VELVET REVOLVER Drummer Says He's 'Not Afraid' Of Playing OZZFEST
April 29, 2005Launch Radio Networks reports: Though it's been common knowledge for several weeks, VELVET REVOLVER has officially announced its participation in Ozzfest 2005. The quintet will play the final seven dates of the 26-city tour beginning on August 23, taking over IRON MAIDEN's slot on the Ozzfest mainstage. VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum told Launch he's looking forward to the shows even though the majority of the bill is far heavier than his band. "I'm not scared of it or anything," he said. "I mean, I've opened for METALLICA in, you know, the early days. Back then, that was a little hairy. But I think hopefully it'll just be a bunch of people just comin' out and having a good time and diggin' on all kinds of music, I guess."
VELVET REVOLVER was originally planning to do 10 Ozzfest shows, but the number was subsequently reduced.
Besides BLACK SABBATH and VELVET REVOLVER, other mainstage acts include MUDVAYNE, SHADOWS FALL, and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. The second stage will be headlined by Ozzfest veteran ROB ZOMBIE.
VELVET REVOLVER is currently on its own Electric Wonderland Show headlining tour.
